Discover Omaha Tap House - Pepperwood

If you’re cruising through West Omaha and craving a burger that actually lives up to the hype, Omaha Tap House - Pepperwood at 579 N 155th Plaza, Omaha, NE 68154, United States is the kind of spot that makes you slow down and stay awhile. Tucked into the Pepperwood neighborhood, this local favorite blends the comfort of a neighborhood diner with the energy of a modern craft beer bar. I’ve visited more than a few times-once on a busy Friday night with friends, and another during a laid-back weekday lunch-and both experiences were consistently solid.

The first thing that hits you when you scan the menu is the creativity. Yes, you’ll find classic cheeseburgers and fries, but what sets this place apart are the bold flavor combinations. Their peanut butter burger, for example, sounds wild on paper. Yet when you taste it, the creamy peanut butter, crispy bacon, and juicy beef patty balance in a way that just works. According to the National Cattlemen’s Beef Association, over 60% of Americans say burgers are their favorite casual dining item. After trying a few options here, it’s easy to see why that statistic holds true.

On my last visit, I ordered a double smash burger with hand-cut fries. The patties had that perfect sear-crispy edges, tender center. That kind of texture doesn’t happen by accident. It comes from pressing the beef onto a hot griddle to create a Maillard reaction, the same browning process culinary experts often highlight as key to deep, savory flavor. The fries arrived hot and golden, lightly salted, and crisp without feeling greasy. It’s a small detail, but it shows care in the kitchen.

Beyond burgers, the tap list deserves serious attention. Nebraska has seen steady growth in craft breweries over the past decade, and Omaha’s beer culture is thriving. This restaurant supports that momentum with a rotating lineup of local and regional brews. On one visit, I paired my burger with an IPA from a Nebraska brewery, and the citrus notes cut through the richness of the beef beautifully. If you’re not into beer, there are cocktails and non-alcoholic options too, which makes it easy for groups with different tastes.

Service is another strong point. During a packed weekend dinner, our server managed the table with ease-checking in at the right moments, offering recommendations, and explaining the specials clearly. That kind of attentiveness matters. Research from hospitality groups like the National Restaurant Association consistently shows that service quality is one of the top factors influencing repeat visits. From what I’ve seen in customer reviews and from personal experience, this location understands that.

The atmosphere strikes a comfortable balance. There are plenty of TVs for catching a game, but it doesn’t feel overwhelming. Families, college students, and professionals all seem equally at home. The layout allows for both larger gatherings and quieter two-person tables. I’ve brought out-of-town friends here, and it’s always an easy choice when someone says they want something casual but memorable.

It’s worth noting that peak hours can mean a short wait, especially on weekends. That’s not a flaw so much as a reflection of its popularity in the Pepperwood area. Planning ahead or arriving a little early can help if you’re on a tight schedule.

Overall, this West Omaha diner delivers where it counts: flavorful food, a diverse drink selection, friendly service, and a welcoming vibe. Between the inventive burger lineup, carefully curated tap list, and consistent kitchen execution, it stands out among Omaha restaurants. Whether you’re exploring new locations for dinner or scanning reviews for your next comfort-food fix, this address on N 155th Plaza is one that earns repeat visits.

  • I wasn't sure what to expect from this place. Turns out, the food was excellent. One of the best burgers I've ever had. Also they have quite a beer selection. Which, of course, I had to sample a couple of...

  • Awesome spot! The service is friendly, the vibe is relaxed, and the food hits every time. The burgers are great, but the wings are the real MVP. crispy, flavorful, and always cooked perfectly. Add in a killer beer selection and you’ve got one of the best hangout spots in the area. Can’t wait to go back! This review was made in connections with a Toast promotion.

  • Everytime I come in its a wonderfull experience. The sourdough burger is my go to alongside the gouda cheese curds. I never ha e a bad burger or experience. Staff are always smiling laughing or talking to someone and its nice to see. Getting out of the gym and walking over to debatably the best comfort burger is always nice. I don't tend to go to places that are always buisy or loud but somehow its not overstimulating to be at the bar here and I love it.

  • We really enjoyed our dinner at the Omaha Tap House and would definitely recommend it. We went to the one in Pepperwood which is in a newer strip mall. Which makes parking very easy and free. So we got the boneless wings to start with and they were really great. Super moist. And the sauce was awesome. My wife and daughter got the strawberry salad and the chicken fajita salad and they both really liked them. I went adventurous and got the berry hangover burger and it was good but a little too sweet. We all shared the Reese’s peanut butter cup sundae for dessert. And it was excellent. The restaurant is very clean and has a great environment. We went on a Tuesday night I had about seven and it was not crowded and we were able to sit down immediately.

  • Great spot! I sat at the bar and they have a bunch of local/area beers on tap. The special was $0.75 wings. I had the buffalo and the spicy Korean crunch. Both were amazing but the Korean ones stood out! Very friendly bartender who did an excellent job with managing her bar. Food came out quick and hot. I will for sure becoming back when in Omaha.

  • Everything was exceptional! Wings were really good. Their burgers...hangover, smash, and hickory were all great! It was messy goodness. Excellent beers and Maddie our server was amazing for our high maintenance family. Unfortunately, no pics as we were starving.

  • Went here for my birthday and Emily C hooked us up. The food was indescribably good. I had a “full body orgasm” after the first bite of the “spicy chicken quesadilla” and I don’t think I’m even allowed to describe how the “brown sugar burger” was, let’s say really good. Our waitress was also equally amazing and on top of it. She asked if we wanted our burger cut in half before we had to ask, moved us outside, and gave us a box with small lids in it for our sauces. As a past waiter ourselves we were impressed. The atmosphere inside is pretty loud which is my only complaint, but the nice outside seating makes up for it. Best of all is that since I’m part of the rewards program, all of it only costed me $1 plus the tip. Looking forward to coming back.
